Happy New Year!

Happy 2011, everyone!  Despite our big New Year's plans (to have a celebration complete with hats, and horns and some yummy snacks before Mom & Aunt K. left to go to a party with a bunch of other humans to drink that silly punch and watch some stupid ball drop somewhere far away), we didn't end up doing any of it.  Mom's been sick all week, forcing all of us to take shifts taking care of her, when she didn't insist upon going into work (and refusing even to take Phoebe or me with her where we could do some good instead of making us sit home worrying all day).  Then, at the end of the day, all she could do was drag herself home, get dinner for us, and collapse on the couch.  She never did make it to Party City to pick up the party kit of hats and noisemakers that I'd asked her for (and that she'd PROMISED) to get for me, but I guess I shouldn't hold it against her since she felt so sick.  And after all, even though we didn't get to wear hats or blow noisemakers, and even though Mom finally gave in and went to the doctor on Thursday, she still felt sick enough yesterday evening that she couldn't go to the human New Year's party she'd planned to attend, so she had to stay home with us!

We even got some special chocolate (ok, carob, but they looked just like the real thing and they tasted pretty good, too, though I can't compare the taste to chocolate since I've never been allowed to have any) cupcakes .. and ... and ... AND they even had fancy multi-colored sprinkles on top!  Mom tried to find them online so we could show you, but the best she could find was these:  Gourmet Tails Cupcakes (they're the same exact ones except the ones in the link are vanilla - actually, they look pretty good, too!)

She had also gotten the cat-kids some nip, and I'll tell ya, I'm not sure what it is about that stuff (I've sniffed it, and all it does is make me sneeze), but the cat-kids sure love it.  Olivia & Tanner didn't even get scared with all the fireworks going off on Bayshore, but poor Finn was scared to death - he spent most of the evening hiding under the bed.  Phoebe and Cosmo didn't like it either.  Phoebe spent most of the evening hiding under a blanket on Mom's lap, even though I kept reminding her that Mom's tummy was hurting really badly and that was the reason she was feeling so sick.  I almost reminded them that Gasparilla is only 28 days away, and that those pirates will be back firing their cannons, but I thought I'd better not.

Anyway, even though it wasn't the New Year's Eve we planned, it wasn't half bad, and even Mom is feeling a little better today, which doesn't surprise me.  After all, all five of us, plus Cosmo & Aunt K. (but mostly me) have been doing our best to take care of her for like, days!

Happy New Year everybody!

Sometimes the best New Year's are the ones that we DON'T plan and that someone "above" plans for us! Yours sounds like it was THAT kind of New Year's and I am sorry you were sick but this sounds like a better time!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
