Snoozing on Saturday

Hi, everyone ... it's me, Olivia!  I heard from the little man inside the talking box in the armoire that it was supposed to get cold again today.  Also, it's raining out, so I can't even go out on the cat porch and stalk lizards. It hardly even counts as the weekend without a little bit of lizard stalking.  So I've decided to just stay in bed today.

Happy Saturday, everybody!

No Sun on Saturday ...

Hi, Blog Friends!  It's me, Tucker, with your Saturday morning weather report.  Which, here in Tampa, is, pretty  gloomy.  All day yesterday and so far today the sky has been gray and depressing-looking, but the rain never comes.  Mom says we can't go to the park, though, because probably as soon as we get there the rain will start. Also, she has a pretty bad cold, so between that and the weather, I can pretty much predict we'll be stuck in the house all day.

That's kinda boring, so instead of showing you pictures of that, here are a few we haven't posted yet, of me, Phoebe, and Cosmo, relaxing in the sun on Thanksgiving day.  Now THAT was a great day!  After all, what could be better than lying in the warm sun with your friends while the smell of roasting turkey permeates the air? I can't think of anything, can you?

Hope everyone out there in Blog Land has a wonderful Saturday!

BREAKING NEWS! Guess what Mom just took out of the refrigerator?  A TURKEY!  She said that since we are going to be home all day this is a perfect opportunity to make sure that the cats get some roasted turkey, too, since they had to stay home on Thanksgiving and be sat on.  I know some cats like to travel, but ours don't, so when we travel, they stay home and get sat on.  Hey, do you think I've developed the power of telepathy?  Because if I can think about something hard enough that Mom will pick up on it, there is basically no reason why I can't get absolutely everything I want!  SCORE!!!!!  This is turning out to be a pretty good day!   I hope Mom's nose isn't so stuffed up that she can't smell the turkey cooking!

Saturday Shopping Trip

We're going toy shopping today!  What's everyone else up to?

P.S.  Mom has been acting VERY secretive lately ... ordering things online late at night, whispering with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt K., and generally behaving in a suspicious manner.  We found out this morning that all of this craziness was due to a Halloween costume contest she was planning on dragging us to today.  And not only was she plotting to torture US in this fiendish manner, she had co-conspirators in Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt K.  They were planning to dress not just Phoebe and me, but Cosmo and Riley, too, and I think even cousin Bella, in some sort of theme outfits and parade us around in public. Can you believe this?  But, as usual, the W word kept her busier than she planned, and praise the pumpkin gods, she didn't have time to get our outfits sufficiently perfected.  So she said we would NOT be parading today and to "make it up to us" she is taking us shopping for toys!  Phew!  Talk about dodging a bullet!

Sad on Saturday

But Mom, why AREN'T we going to the Ybor City Saturday Market?

Mom note:  I guess it's no secret by now that I love outdoor green markets, street fairs, and their ilk.  I especially love them in the fall when it's not so freaking hot!  The dogs always enjoy themselves as well, especially Tucker who never misses any opportunity to schmooze!  And today we had planned to go with some friends to the one in Ybor City but unfortunately we woke up to gloomy skies threatening rain, rather than the beautiful crisp, sunny day the weatherman had promised.  Speaking of which, I obviously missed the boat in my choice of career paths.  In what other profession can you do your job wrong at least ninety percent of the time and still have one?  But that's a question for another day.  I think I'm going to  BLOG HOP  for a little bit, and then go back to bed!  Have a great Saturday, everyone!

LAST DAY!

Hi, everyone!  It's me, Finn!  And in case you forgot to remember ... today is the LAST day of the
Back In Black Adoption Event!  And it's also the last day of my Comment-A-Thon   and YOUR LAST CHANCE to leave a comment and get yourself entered in the random drawing to receive a donation of up to $100 in your name to the shelter or rescue group of your choice.  Now, remember, even if you've already left us a comment, you can leave us another one today, and each comment you've left will be another entry into the drawing.

That's it ... it's really simple.  So leave your comment HERE

Now, today, I'm not going to show you pictures of beautiful house panthers like me who need homes.  I know they're out there.  You know they're out there.  If you want one of your own (and who wouldn't, really?) just head out to your local shelter and adopt one today.  But it's not just beautimous house panthers like me who have a  hard time getting adopted.  It's also black dogs ... especially large black dogs.  But I'm not going to show you any pictures of them today, either.  Again, we all know they're out there, and if you find yourself in need of one, you know where you can go to look.  No, today is Saturday and that means it's time for the ...

Brought to us by our friends at Confessions of the Plume , Life With Dogs , and Two Little Cavaliers

In this spirit, allow me to introduce you to some lovely black dogs and cats you may not yet be acquainted with (and some you probably are, but maybe haven't visited in awhile).  In no particular order ...

So in the spirit of Saturday Blog Hoppin', hop on by some of these great blogs today ... and tell 'em we sent you!  But NOT before you leave your comment HERE!

Sun and Fun on Saturday ...

Hi, everyone ... it's me, Tucker!

Usually on Saturdays, Mom spends a lot of time doing stuff that, frankly, we don't find all that exciting.  Like cleaning the house, going to the grocery store, and running errands.  The reason we don't find these things all that exciting is that none of them generally mean a lot of time or attention spent on us (Phoebe, me, and cat kids).  Not that we're neglected, and it's true what Mom says - these chores are necessary evils that keep our household running smoothly.  But I digress.

Since Saturdays are usually boring days for us, imagine our surprise when, instead of saying "see you later" and leaving us home alone, Mom grabbed her purse and our leashes and said "come on, let's go!"

Obviously we were ready to go immediately ... but Phoebe had no idea where we were off to.  I had a hunch ... and I was right!  See, during last Saturday's Blog Hop, we stumbled upon a blog called Chihuahua Wisdom, authored by a lovely Chi named Chanel, who actually lives pretty near to us, in St. Petersburg.  And she had posted on her blog about an event going on this Saturday that she thought would be fun to attend!  And it was!  It was called Paws for the Arts, and it was to benefit the Canterbury School for the Arts

There were raffles, free treats, and all the pooches got a chance to express their inner artists by doing some paw painting with washable, non-toxic paint on our very own canvases!  Phoebe, Mom, & I met Aunt K. and Cosmo there, and we were pretty excited.

When we arrived, there were all these paintings on display of dogs and cats that had been done by the students at the school.  Mom thought they were really good, and she even took pictures of some of them.  Here are her favorites:

Then it was time for us to paint ...

Standing in line to paint and taking in the scene ...
Cosmo was very interested in the goings-on ...
Phoebe decided she didn't really want to paint (this after she decided that what she DID want to do was paint Mom's jeans instead of the canvas with bright pink paint.  And even though Mom knew it was washable paint, she still said a bad word.  I know - can't take her anywhere.)

And here's me, painting my canvas ...

After we were through patronizing the Arts, it was time to eat!  So we headed to Downtown St. Pete and settled in at a table at  400 Beach Seafood & Tap House

Cosmo and me relaxing on the sidewalk cafe ... a great spot to human watch!

Phoebe enjoyed the opportunity to sunbathe ...

It was such a nice day, and I was so relaxed ... I might've even fallen asleep there for a second!

After that, we walked around for awhile, until it was time for dessert ...

So we strolled down the street to Paciugo Gelato

Mom couldn't decide between the Viola (made of crushed violet flowers) or the caramel and sea salt ... so the nice lady inside gave her a little bit of each.  Aunt K. had mocha swirl ... and WE each had a treat that the lady gave Mom to give to us)

We were so good that Mom gave us each a tiny taste of the viola flavor (AFTER she was done, of course!) ...

DEE ...

... LICIOUS!

Can't help but smile after a fun day like that!

After this we went shopping ... but maybe I'll tell you about that tomorrow.  Hope everyone is having a sunshiney Saturday!
