Hi, everyone ... MP here!
The first Sunday of every month is something we really look forward to - because Hyde Park Village is less than five minutes from our door, and on the first Sunday of each month, the Village hosts a Fresh Market. It runs from 11 am to 3pm and there are lots of great local vendors selling all sorts of wonderful things, like fresh, organically grown veggies, organic free-range eggs, pastas, tons of yummy street food, locally made crafts, artisan breads, and the like. All the local shops set out big bowls of ice water for the dogs, and the local dog specialty shop, Downtown Dogs offers free treats to any dogs that stop by. (Of course, today was the same as any other day in that I was unable to leave the store without a bag full of treats, chews, and other things for the pups.)
This stand has the most delicious cherry tomatoes I've ever tasted! |
All the pastas are organic and gluten free, and they all come with a recipe. Orzo is a great summer pasta, so for dinner tonight I'm making a cold orzo pasta salad with grilled chicken. Mmm! |
As you can see ... the vendors who come out enjoy a pretty brisk business ... |
And there's always plenty of pee mail for the dogs to check ... |

All in all, a great, although somewhat hot, way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon. I'll be honest, I will look forward to these Sundays even more once the weather turns a little cooler and I know the dogs will, too!

@ Amber, the Market is in Hyde Park Village in Tampa ... I don't know if we'll be in town for the September one, but please let us know if you're gonna drive over, because we would love to see you!
