I've written before - HERE - about how, because I'm both a rather shy, and a rather competitive person, agility trialing is really just not for me. Shyness and competitiveness are just not personality traits that particularly complement one another. On the other hand, agility for fun is ... well, LOTS of FUN, and I regret that our previously much-looked-forward-to-each-week agility class has changed nights and we are no longer able to make it. Therefore, I've recently been looking for ways to incorporate some pseudo agility activities into our daily routine.
Here, Tucker on the "down side" of our impromptu A-frame:
EYES ON THE LIVER ...
COMING DOWN ...
ALMOST THERE ...
SNARF ...
LIP LICKIN' GOOD ...
DISCLAIMER: Because my dogs have received extensive agility instruction/training (as have I, but I think my dogs might have actually learned more at agility class than I did as they are way better at their part of the partnership than I am at mine), I am very confident of their safety in cases such as this. Added to which, a fallen log or piece of railroad tie is much lower to the ground than a dog walk, and in this case, the "down side" of the "A frame" is not nearly as steep as the one they are used to negotiating in class. I am very cognizant of never putting them in a situation that I feel could be dangerous or in any way unsafe. I would think that would go without saying, but you just never know, so I wanted to reassure everyone on that point.

Nommy! Though really, to a CAT, putting the word "agility" and "dog" in the same sentence is to laff! We don't need no freaking classes to be agile--WE is BORN agile! Just ask my sweet Olivia!

Awesome! I have wanted to build some agility-like things for my dog Murdoch to do - he has soooo much energy and a very busy brain - but we have never been to an agility class. He's one of those dogs that has zero manners in social situations and I know we would get kicked out of any class we joined. He's a special boy.
